Atti Vakili Wheeler
Atti is an oil and mixed media artist, currently lives and works in Annandale in the Fairfax area of Virginia . She received her B.F.A. Degree in fine arts from the Accademia De belle Arti university in Rome, Italy , majored in design and painting. As a student she traveled extensively through out France, Germany, Denmark, Greece, and Turkey, constantly delving into art classes, art museums, and art galleries that reflected her experiences.
Atti's new-found love of mixed media stems from her innate love of texture and her ability to create movement with different materials. While visiting Emerald Island, North Carolina for summer vacation six years ago, Atti developed her new style. It was a moment of feeling the earth and cold water beneath her feet. She started to incorporate colorful shells, sand, soil, etc. into her artwork with oil, acrylic, and other media. Mother Nature becomes her medium and she transforms these gems into sculptural wall hangings.
She received many awards from the Torpedo Factory Art League, the Fairfax Art League, and the MOCA Art gallery in Washington DC.
