Joyce Myers
Have you ever wondered what makes an artist? It’s a question people have asked for years. As for me, my simple answer is an artist as a person who looks for the beauty in God’s Creation. Art can inspire others, illicit emotions, or fill a person’s spirit with joy and hope.
My creative nature started as a young child in school with poster paints. Over the years I’ve studied at the northern Virginia Community College in the fine arts department, attended multiple art workshops and I have been a member of the Vienna arts Society for over six years. The most important thing I have learned is that an artist needs other artists. We help each other with creativity and most of all we encourage and inspire each other.
One of my favorite sayings is, “variety is the spice of life“. This is why no set style or medium brands me. I use pastels for pet portraits, and watercolors, colored pencils, acrylics, graphite, and alcohol inks for multiple subjects. I have even dabbled in paper collage.
There is no limit or right answer to what makes an artist. “Art is in the eye of the beholder“. May you always be in lightened and inspired through “MYART“.
