Betty Ganley
A nationally and internationally recognized name in watercolor, Betty is the recipient of over 100 awards, both locally and nationally for her vibrant floral and marine paintings. As a result of international competitions her work has appeared in many art related magazines, including International Artist and Australian Artist magazines, as well as 9 major art books that celebrate the country’s top watercolorists. International Artist Magazine", of Sidney Australia includes her name among its authors.
As most artists do, Betty does find the world of travel essential to the creative process. The coast of Maine frequently calls, as do the coastal villages of Cornwall and Devon, England, not to mention the various marinas scattered along our very own Chesapeake Bay. The pastoral scenes of Yorkshire, the Cotswolds villages, the south of France, as well as the back roads of our very own Virginia and Maryland have all been explored and have found places on her easel. Although an occasional landscape finds its way to her easel, her fondness for nautical as well as floral and still life themes predominate in her vibrant paintings. Betty’s works appear in many corporate and private collections.
At various times in her career Betty has been a member of Great Falls, Vienna, McLean Reston, Falls Church and Rockville Art Societies, as well as having been juried into the Virginia, Baltimore, Southern and Potomac Valley Watercolor societies. Most recently she was juried into the very limited membership organization of Twenty Five “Fine Art Professionals Of Northern Virginia”. She continues to paint (at her kitchen table), judging art exhibits, and giving occasional art demonstrations and lectures to various groups of artists.
