Julie Cochran
My name is Julie Cochran. I was born in Washington D.C. over half a century ago. Spent a few years in Texas. Returned to the D.C. area to complete my REQUIRED academic career. Graduated Robinson High School in 1981. Got my degree in early childhood development from Northern Virginia Community College in 1987. I have two loves, cats and photography. In 1991, I met my now husband Michael (love him as well). Circa 1992, I had registered for a photography class at NOVA. At the time Michael had a Pentax K1000 35mm film camera. I asked if I could use it for school. He said ‘yes.’ His first mistake. Since then I’ve joined the Vienna Photographic Society, where I’ve received several ribbons for my images. Circa 2000 I left film, and went digital. I currently use a Sony A 6000 mirrorless digital camera.
After retiring from Fairfax County Public Schools in 2014 as a transportation assistant, I joined the Vienna Arts Society in 2015. I am currently exhibiting at several venues including La Image, the Vienna Community Center, and the Vienna Arts Center.
In addition to my photography, I participated in the Take A Seat project. It can be found at Vienna Community Center.
