Holy Trinity supports adults in the development of their faith through the following education offerings, discussion programs, and special events.
Adult Christian Education opportunities at Holy Trinity generally are offered on Sunday mornings from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. There is an ongoing weekly Bible Study, as well as various short courses that meet for four-to-six weeks. Bible Study for 2014-2015 focused on the Sparkhouse series Animate: Faith. This adult course imaginatively explores central topics of Christianity. In each session, we will watch a video featuring a leading voice from the Christian faith, spend time on personal reflection & journaling, and share ideas with the group. Each session delves into a faith topic: God, religion, Jesus, salvation, the cross, the Bible, and church. For more information about adult Christian Education offerings, contact Pastor Mike.
Holy Trinity currently offers three discussion groups for adults.
Forum is convened from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Sundays to discuss matters of faith in daily life, with an emphasis of the “Monday calling” of the Christian. Forum frequently features a guest speaker, and a schedule of Forum topics is provided in advance in the church bulletin and newsletter. Click here for a list of topics covered in Forum (2011-2015).
Theology on Tap is a group that meets at a nearby restaurant 6 to 8 times a year for dinner, fellowship, and a theological discussion on a selected topic. Meeting dates and topics are publicized in the church bulletion and through a Theology on Tap email listserv. It you would like more information, or to have your email added to the listserv, contact Ray Meyer at rayphoebe[AT]aol.com or call the church office.
Faith Outside the Box is a group that gathers every 2-3 weeks on Monday evenings to reflect on and discuss books that challenge the religious status quo and offer glimpses of new ways to follow the example of Christ. For more information, click here. Contact is John Bowen at bowenjm[AT]verizon.net.
Holy Trinity periodically organizes special events focused on faith topics. The last offering was a two-day visit by well-known author Diana Butler Bass, who spoke to the Holy Trinity Book Club, the Forum, and at an evening event open to the public over the weekend of November 9-10, 2013. More information on Diana Butler Bass’ visit to Holy Trinity can be found here.
